Hi! My name is Jane (she/her). I'm a postdoctoral fellow at McGill Linguistics and Mila, working with Tim O'Donnell. I recently completed my PhD in Cognitive Science at Johns Hopkins University, where I worked with Kyle Rawlins and Paul Smolensky.

My research focuses on the learning and real-time processing of linguistic representations. How do we learn these complex representations with little data, and how are they accessed/built as we plan out our speech? I use computational modelling and behavioural experiments to answer these questions. My specialty lies in morphology and phonology, though I also work on other levels of linguistic structure. My doctoral research was supported by a SSHRC Doctoral Fellowship.

Outside of work, you'll find me making modular origami, playing Magic: The Gathering, or knitting.

I can be reached at jane.sy.li@mail.mcgill.ca or jane.li@mila.quebec.
